The Department of Education, Skills and Employment’s analysis of real-time hiring activity from online job advertisements and job placements data shows strong growth in health and personal service jobs, particularly for Physicians, Registered Nurses and Nursing Support Workers, with 900 more hospital jobs in March compared to February. Jobs growth also exists in logistics (Truck Drivers, Storepersons, Shelf Fillers) and retail (Pharmacy Sales Assistants, Checkout Operators, and Commercial Cleaners).

Further, the Department’s employer liaison network has observed demand for workers in the following sectors: manufacturing; warehousing; retail; hospitals and care facilities; IT and call centres; mining and agriculture/harvest.

These roles may become sustainable over the medium to long term – a massive turnaround for certain industries previously not viewed as having good long term employment prospects. Find out more at:
